JOB SUMMARY: The Day Camp Counselor is responsible for the supervision and delivery of effective programming to day campers in an outdoor environment. Primary responsibilities include supervision and behavior management of day campers, facilitation of program activities, and timely and effective communication between supervisors, staff, campers, and families. Qualified applicants must be creative, flexible, enthusiastic, open to working with campers and staff of any background, comfortable leading small and large groups of people, and willing to take on additional responsibilities when required.

JOB SUMMARY: The Bus Driver will be responsible for transporting campers and staff by bus to and from camp daily and for field trips. This position will also be responsible for performing a daily pre-check of the bus, recording pertinent information in maintenance logs, and ensuring that all passengers are following Camp Fire’s safety policies.

JOB SUMMARY: The Inclusion Specialist is responsible for working with staff and parents to ensure the needs of campers are met. Specifically, when success plans and extra support is necessary.

Camp Hantesa has been a part of the Boone community for more than a century. Camp Hantesa hosts hundreds of campers from across central Iowa every summer in day and overnight camps. Camp Hantesa provides a traditional summer camp experience with archery, outdoor living, rock climbing, creative arts, sports and games, canoeing, and daily swimming. Camp Canwita serves families in the Ames community and surrounding areas. Camp Canwita hosts Day Camps for campers entering grades 1 – 12. Camp Canwita provides a summer camp experience focused on outdoor learning, connecting with nature, avoiding summer learning loss with STEM and literacy programing, creative arts, sports and games, and daily swimming. JOB SUMMARY: Assists the Food Service Manager and Cook in preparing and serving nutritious meals and in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen, dishwashing area, and other camp facilities.

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting in the upkeep of Camp Fire Heart of Iowa’s buildings and grounds. This position can expect to work with plumbing, electrical, carpentry, grounds, and minor vehicle and equipment maintenance.
