In 2020, for the first time in Camp Hantesa’s 100+ year history, all summer camp programs were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Matters were made worse by the August 2020 Derecho which caused more than $200,000 in damage to camp’s facilities and landscape. This summer, following guidance from the CDC and the American Camp Association (ACA), Camp Hantesa will open with additional policies and protocols in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
But we need your help to make sure our cabins, trails, and activity spaces are ready to welcome campers back to our home away from home – Camp Hantesa!
Join us on May 8, 2021 from 10:00am – 4:00pm for our Summer 2021 Volunteer Day – projects will include cleaning and rearranging cabins, painting, raking and leaf blowing, and basic maintenance tasks. Lunch will be provided for all volunteers.
To participate: Please RSVP to Owen Ballard at oballard@campfireiowa.org or by phone at (515) 274-1501.
