Jessica is the AmeriCorps Member that is serving Campfire this school year as the STEM Coordinator. But she has been a part of Camp Fire for many years as a camper, apprentice, counselor, and this summer will be the Teen Specialist.
She is currently attending Iowa State University to obtain her bachelor’s in psychology with minors in Human Development and Family Services and Leadership. She hopes in the future to gain a master’s in education to continue her learning and ability to serve youth. Prior to her time at Camp Fire, she worked as an Emergency Services Specialist through YSS engaging with youth in crisis.
In her role as the STEM Coordinator for AmeriCorps and Camp Fire, Jessica is responsible for developing STEM lesson plans, and creating safe spaces for campers to learn and explore opportunities in STEM. Jessica teaches for the 21st Century program and School Day Off Programs throughout the school year that are provided by Camp Fire. Jessica enjoys incorporating the outdoors and adventure into everyday learning and helping youth get into nature and connect to the world using STEM.
