Exciting new opportunities for teens in central Iowa!
The Camp Fire Child Care Apprenticeship helps teens prepare for and explore careers in the childcare workforce.
Iowa is experiencing a childcare crisis. With a shortage of nearly 350,000 childcare spots, the need for qualified childcare workers has never been greater! The Camp Fire Child Care Apprenticeship equips teens with the certifications and experience needed to immediately secure employment at licensed childcare centers and other youth programs across the state.
Camp Fire is currently accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year. There is no cost to apply or to participate and the program is open to all central Iowa teens ages 16+. During the course of the program, teens will be guided through a series of education courses and will receive hands-on training from Camp Fire staff. Upon completion, participants will have all of the necessary certifications and experience to work in licensed childcare centers across the state. Participants will also receive employment assistance and coaching as a part of the program!
The Camp Fire Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is a group of central Iowa teens (grades 9-12) that advise the organization on issues important to youth, strategies for outreach, and other significant initiatives. They play a vital role in ensuring our organization centers youth voice and is responsive to the current needs of our community.
Applications are currently open for the 2024-2025 term. Apply online by October 1, 2024 to be considered.
