Camp Fire Heart of Iowa receives grant from Variety – the Children’s Charity

Des Moines, IA – Camp Fire Heart of Iowa has received a grant from Variety – the Children’s Charity to fund scholarship assistance for underserved youth.

Camp Fire Heart of Iowa is an inclusive youth development nonprofit organization serving Polk, Dallas, Warren, Jasper, Boone, and Story Counties that connects kids with nature and helps them develop the skills needed for a happy, healthy life now and into the future. We offer a variety of youth and family programs including Community Clubs, Out-of-School Time Programs, Day and Overnight Camps, and Teen Leadership Development. Camp Fire Heart of Iowa serves approximately 1,500+ youth per year.

The Variety grant will be used for scholarship assistance for underserved and minority youth in central Iowa to attend school year and summer programming.

Variety continues to support our community’s most underserved youth through their generous gifts. This grant will do exactly that, making sure refugees, low-income families, and victims impacted by crime are still able to experience all the joys of summer and school year programming without taking on an additional financial burden.  – Kelly Peterson, Executive Director
